Internationally renowned artist Jorge Alvarez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1949. Jorge began studying art under the tutelage of his father, an accomplished painter from Spain who migrated to Cuba during the Spanish Civil War. During the take-over of Cuba by the Communist Party, Jorge's parents decided to send eleven-year-old Jorge to America via the famed Peter Pan flights from Cuba to Miami. By age twelve, Jorge was already selling his sketches as a refugee foster child living in New Mexico. He went on to study art at Miami Dade Community College University of Miami.

Mr. Alvarez works as a decorative artist and instructor as well as painting murals in many key locations in Miami, as well as private mansions all over South Florida. He is influenced by artists such as the sculptor Mario Santi and San Alejandro Art Academy Professor, Juan De Lara.
